We like to take these along any type of travel to reach down for dropped items.  Especially helpful on an airplane, where inevitably, something is rolling under your seat!  Can be used by an adult to help a child's part/toy, or made into a 'fishing' game, by letting the child try to retrieve the item.  We've killed a LOT of time using these for fallen item 'grabbing'.
