Having traveled the world ‘pre-kids’, we have been fortunate to have traveled by various modes quite extensively with 2 young boys (who were 5 and 2 years of age, when this sight launched October 2008). In our travels we have come to realize that traditional 'travel games' and toys are not particularly practical for young children. Unfortunately, many ‘travel’ toys are just ‘bigger’ toys that were made a convenient size to take along, but not a convenient size to use, especially for small hands. We've spent so much time hunting under airplane seats for tiny parts, and calming our kids' frustrations as unstable toys slid across train or plane trays. With each trip we’ve taken, our kids' "ACTIVITY Bags" have gotten better and better.

We have spent hours researching cool, non-traditional travel toys to take on trips, most of which fit in a standard kid’s backpack. We’ve also found it important to ‘contain’ the activity with the help of a Multi-Use Craft Tray, Lap Tray, or other Carseat/Stroller Tray. We then realized that other traveling families may benefit from our research, and thus, “KidsTravelHappy.com” was born. It has been several months in the making (and many years of activity trial and error), but we're happy to introduce our picks of well-researched products from high-quality, reputable vendors.

We hope you will find this site a refreshing & unique approach to creativity inspiring, brain stimulating, unplugged toys, games, books, and activities for kids to take on their travels whether it's by car, plane, train, ship, RV, bus or imagination.

Do note that we would be kidding ourselves to say we never carry a DVD player or MP3 player during travel for ‘emergencies’, but we are NOT kidding when we say ours are rarely used. The mission of this site is to have your child engaged in brain stimulating activities and toys. We feel there are so many awesome products on this site, that your young travelling companion(s) won’t miss the electronic pastimes. The added bonus of equipping your young travel companions with great stuff to do?? The adults might actually get to read that book that always gets packed and neglected.
